On-line financial application underpinned with Oracle 10i database. When the customer first contacted us, they had days to save their business...

We were approached by a financial organisation and informed that their application developer and hosting company had gone into liquidation, we were tasked with porting a large on-line (PERL & Oracle) application on to brand-new hardwarewithin a week.  This presented a significant challenge.

With no resources to draw on from the previous hosting company, we had to ensure that this business critical application supporting hundreds of Independent Financial Advisors remained on-line at all times. The potential difficulty of achieving the objected was compounded by the multi-platform nature of the solution (Linux & Windows), the Oracle 8i database platform and the integration with 3rd party applications. Our technology and development staff were 'enormous' in their efforts on this project and the objectives were all accomplished with all but a few hours downtime (out of hours so as not to affect the IFAs). Subsequently, the customer installed a high-speed leased line into our Network Operations & Hosting centre, allowing them to provide critical updates to the application data and to achieve reliable, firewall-secured Internet access. This was a truly integrated solution, drawing on all out fields of expertise and presented on of the most challenging requirements we have met thus far.
