World-wide charity - Evaluation & report on potential redevelopment of major portal and the associated technology infrastructure...

We were asked to evaluate whether a major charitable portal which played a critical role in the operations of this world-wide organisation, was built on a robust platform and/or whether it would be suitable for redevelopment using an alternative technology environment.

The project was broken down into a number of phases, each with their own clearly documented deliverables.  A review with the customer took place at the end of each phase and a decision made whether to progress to the next project phase.

What became apparent after the first two phases was that the risk to the organisation’s operations was not commensurate with the investment in the new technology platform and development resource and that the most appropriate way forward for the short and mid-term was to enhance the existing system and ensure that the critical elements were given a maintenance overhaul.

The investment made in this assessment ultimately saved the customer many thousands of Pounds and protected it from exposing itself to a risk which it could ill-afford to take at the time.
